We spoke to around 300 people, including students, lecturers, and staff at the University.
The Young Persons’ Free Bus Travel scheme has a high uptake at the University and students have shown that they love buses. Among the reasons mentioned by students for choosing buses are:
- Buses are faster than cars because they are not as affected by traffic
- Buses help reduce congestion in towns and cities
- Buses help save money
- Buses are environmentally friendly
- Electric buses help to reduce air pollution
In addition to engaging in a very positive way with students through the conversations, we received great feedback on our promotional materials. One graphic design student said she was impressed with our banners, which represent the benefits of buses for Scotland: Fairer, Greener, Healthier and Stronger.
We also had the opportunity to speak to a student who is a bus driver in the city of Aberdeen. She is 19 years old and did the training when she was 18. We were very happy to hear about her story with buses!
The event was a complete success! We are looking forward to taking the #lovemybus campaign to Robert Gordon University again.
