For those applying for the New NEC Free Bus pass for under 22s, I managed to get through the application and it’s been approved. I know there are many factors affecting the success rate, however for my 12 year old I took advanced quality photos of:

• Them (passport quality, no smiling, shadows etc)
• Their passport
• Their birth certificate
• Your driving licence

I then cropped all the photos to reduce the file size.

Tip: if you need to reduce the size of the photos further you can email them to yourself and compress them further and save them back to your drive/camera roll.

Note: I completed the application through Mygovscot login account as I had this set up for parentpay.

This way you can go through the application and just upload each image as you go! Good Luck

• Make sure the pictures are clear and light enough. Using the edit function to both crop and lighten is helpful.
• All images should be less than 3MB
• Using the scan function in Notes on iPhone instead, this will scan only the document and crop everything else. You can then screenshot the scan to turn it into an image file.

Check your Local Authority to find out where you can make applications in person as this may vary.

• Plan ahead and make an appointment as most libraries require this.
• Kids aged 5-10 do not need to be present and birth certificate or passport and proof of guardians name/address is all that’s required.
• 11+ require passport photo signed as true likeness and a referee to sign the form and they DO need to be present. Best to collect the form and make an appointment to return with all the relevant documents.
